A St. Mary disc jockey and music promoter lost his life in a bloody motor vehicle accident, which occurred along a section of the Ocho Rios Bypass, in St. Ann, on Sunday morning, April 14.
Another man who was also in the vehicle also received injuries and is presently at the hospital in serious condition.
Reports by the Ocho Rios police are that shortly after 4:00 a.m., on Sunday, the deceased 39-year-old, Sekuo Phipps of St. Mary Country Club, in St. Mary, and the male passenger were travelling in a Honda Civic motor car, towards the Ocho Rios town centre.
On reaching a section of the Ocho Rios bypass, Phipps reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the road and crashed into a tree.
The police were summoned, and upon their arrival, Phipps and the male passenger were both transported to the hospital, where Phipps was pronounced dead, and the other passenger admitted in serious condition.
Phipps is a well-known disc jockey and music who operates out of St. Mary and St. Ann. He was also booked to appear on an event in Ocho Rios this Sunday, but news of his death resulted in the cancellation of the event.
