Denham Town Police Release Identity of Slain Gunman

Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: The Denham Town police have now released the identity of a man who was fatally shot, after he reportedly challenged members of the security forces in a shootout, at a section of Denham Town, in West Kingston on Wednesday, April 24.

The slain gunman has been identified as 27-year-old Cedric Thomas of Albert Street in Kingston 14.

Reports by the Denham Town police are that about 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday morning, a team of officers were on patrol at a section of the community known as Elgin Street, when they heard gunshots being fired.

The lawmen went to investigate and saw Thomas running with a firearm in his hand. Thomas was confronted by the lawmen, and he reportedly opened fire at them.

The fire was returned and during the shootout, Thomas was shot and killed.

A Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing six live rounds of ammunition, was taken from him.
