David Hylton: Taxi Operator Murdered in Montego Bay

The Barrett Town and Freeport police in St James, have now commenced an investigation surrounding the shooting death of a taxi operator at Rhyne Park, also in St James on Friday morning, October 19.

The deceased has been identified as David Hylton, 51-year-old taxi operator of lot 616 Rhyne Park Village.

Reports by the police are that about 8:00 a.m., Hylton was carrying out taxi duties within the Rhyne Park area.

On reaching a section of the community, a male passenger who was travelling on board asked for a stop.

The driver complied and the passenger alighted from the vehicle, and handed the payment to the taxi operator.

Hylton was in the process of making change, when the passenger who was standing on the outside of the vehicle, brandished a handgun and opened fire hitting Hylton to his upper body.

The taxi operator died on the spot and the gunman made his escape in the area on foot.

The police were summoned.
