Following the murders of eight persons, including two teenagers within the township of Savannah la Mar, in Westmoreland, a curfew as now being imposed in two sections of Savannah la Mar.
The curfew which started at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 27, will run up until 6:00 p.m., on Friday, March 1.
The Savannah la mar police say they are now asking persons living within the boundaries of the curfew to stay on their premises unless they are authorized to do otherwise by the ground commander.
Areas that fall within the boundaries of the curfew are, Area 1…St.Mary fishing village to Gratto main road and through to Darling Street.
Along Dalling Street to Queen Street back to the fishing village, and from the fishing village back to Gratto main road.
Area 2…along Lewis Street from Great Georges Street to Top Hudson Street.
From Top Hudson Street to Bottom Hudson Street, then on to Great Georges Street through to Bottom Hudson Street and back to Lewis Street.
Since the start of the week, eight persons have been murdered throughout the parish of Westmoreland, and five others have been shot and seriously injured.
