A curfew which was imposed in sections of the Salt Spring community, in St. James at 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 3rd is expected to be lifted this afternoon Tuesday, February 5th.
Our news team learned from a police source that during the two days of curfew, the joint military forces picked up a number of men some of whom are presently still being processed.
The curfew is said to have stemmed from a recent flareup of murders and shootings within the Salt Spring area, the latest incident taking place on Saturday morning, where a man known so far only as ” Kartel ” was shot and killed, and another popular figure shot and injured, allegedly by men dressed in police helmets and denim.
The boundaries of the curfew range from Megea top through to Cornwall Courts and on to the Green Pond High School.
Also along sections of Montego Hills through to Salt Spring Road.
