Cuba (McKoy’s News)Cuba’s First Ultra-Luxury Hotel: Cuba’s first ultra-luxury hotel opened its doors to its first guests on Monday, May 22.

The 246-room Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana won’t have an official opening until June 7, however, guests will pay between US$440 and US$2,485 per night to stay at the upscale hotel, which is jointly owned by Swiss group Kempinski Hotels and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Force’s Gaviota Group.  Originally built between 1894 and 1917 as the first European-style shopping arcade in Cuba, the hotel is situated in the heart of the old Havana with a direct view of the Capitol and the Great Theatre of Havana, and amidst UNESCO World Heritage sites.

It features three bars, three restaurants, a gym, a rooftop pool, a nearly 10,000-square-foot spa, and a shopping mall with high-end boutiques like Versace, Giorgio Armani, Lacoste and Montblanc.
