Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain, the world champion over 400 metres will be represented by  Trinidad and Tobago-based sports attorney Dr. Emir Crowne, who represented Naser in her original case has retained his counsel to lead the legal team in her fight with the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

The announcement was made by the AIU, an arm of World Athletics, last week that it has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after the 22-year-old Naser was cleared on whereabouts charges last month.

The Nigerian-born Bahraini athlete escaped a two-year ban, which would have kept her out of the rearranged Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, after a drugs tester knocked on the door of a storage cupboard instead of her apartment.

Crowne is known locally for his representation of Jamaicans Dominique Blake, Riker Hylton, and Briana Williams in previous anti-doping hearings.
