Latest Jamaica News, Montego Bay: The prosecution and defence attorneys representing Marvin Orr and Adrian Morgan – the inmates charged with the 2013 murder of Mario Deane – are to hold plea agreement discussions on September 18.
The two accused men appeared before High Court Justice Sonya Wint-Blair at the St. James Circuit Court Monday morning, July 29.
On Monday, Justice Wint-Blair said she was in receipt of the defendants’ psychiatric reports and set the matter for mention on September 18 when plea agreement discussions will be held.
Consequently, she remanded the men in police custody and ordered that they be present in court on that date.
On August 3, 2014, Deane was allegedly beaten into a coma while in custody at the Barnett Street Police Station in Montego Bay for possession of a ganja spliff.
Subsequent to the incident, Orr and Morgan, who were also in custody at Barnett Street, were arrested and charged with murder, along with a third inmate, Damion Cargill. Cargill, who was deemed unfit to plea or to stand trial, was released into his family’s care in July 2017.
