Jamaica Crime News, St Andrew: Detectives attached to the Stony Hill Police Department in St Andrew, have informed our news team that criminal charges will now be laid against a St Andrew man, who is accused of stabbing his own brother to death last Saturday morning, April 6.
According to one police source, they cannot release the name of the accused until he has been officially charged, but he is expected to be charged with the murder of 36-year-old Damion Newell of Longwall in Golden Spring, Stony Hill, over the next hours.
Reports by the Stony Hill police are that, during the course of last Friday, Newell and the brother who is presently in custody, got involved in an argument.
About 5:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, Newell was asleep in bed when he was attacked and stabbed to death by the accused with a kitchen utensil.
Neighbors in the surrounding overheard the commotion and rushed to investigate. Upon forcing their way inside the house, they saw the brother standing over the deceased, drenched in blood.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival, they discovered that Newell had been stabbed in the regions of his neck by his own brother.
Newell was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead, while his brother was taken into custody.
