Kingston, Jamaica (McN) – Police says, posting of persons engaged in sexual act is sharing pornography. If minors are involved, it is child pornography. JCF warns that sharing pornography is punishable by fines /or imprisonment under the Cybercrimes Act .

Speaking with the press, Assistant Commissioner of Police Clifford Chambers states that pornography or photographs uploaded on social media are, in many of the cases, posted by persons who were in an intimate relationship with the other party and post them for malicious purposes.

He warn that Pornographic (person’s involved in sexual acts) images found on mobile phones are also punishable by law.

Reportedly a Jamaican man, was recently caught with social videos of sex involving children, “child pornography” on his cellphone, by US immigration officers, after he came off a flight from Jamaica at the Orlando International Airport in the US.

Chambers warned, that this is a serious matter, and people should not to have inappropriate photographs or videos on mobile devices, emails, or social networks.

The police and the ministry of defense is asking the public to desist from public share of these materials, and in cases where abuse is suspected, immediately turn the materials in to the nearest police station. This will aid in finding and prosecuting the perpetrators of the sex abuse.
