Cop Dies Suddenly in Westmoreland

Westmoreland, Jamaica News: The Westmoreland police are mourning the passing of one of their colleague who died suddenly while shopping with his family on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as 54-year-old Corporal Fitzgerald Smith, who was attached to the Negril Police Station.

Reports are that about 11:05 a.m., Corporal Smith was seated in his private motorcar with members of his family in front of a supermarket in Petersfield when he complained of not feeling well.

The lawman reportedly collapsed after exiting the vehicle and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police do not suspect any foul play at present.
