Common-law Couple Charged with Weapon Seizure

Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: A man and his common-law wife were taken into custody by the Constant Spring police on Friday night of September 21, following the seizure of Silver and black  .357 Smith and Wesson magnum revolver and seventeen rounds of  .357 rounds.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is, Rashaleigh James, 26-year-old Fiber Optic technician of Arnett Gardens in Kingston,  while his girlfriend,  Kerry-Ann Ellis, 22-year-old sales representative of Hudson Avenue in Kingston 11, has been charged with illegal possession of ammunition.

Reports by the Constant Spring police are that about 11:00 p.m. on Friday,  a team of officers were carrying out patrols duties along a section of Addington Avenue in St Andrew when they stopped a Toyota Starlet motor car,  which was being driven by James.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the weapon and six live rounds of ammunition, which was hidden underneath a seat of the car.

The common-law couple was taken into custody and a search later carried out of their home.
