Common-law Couple Charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm

Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: A 25-year-old woman and her 23-year-old common-law husband of Rosemount district in Montego Bay, St James, were charged for Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition by the Mount Salem police on Wednesday, August 8.

The police say they have withheld the identities of both accused at they may have to face an identification parade.

Reports by the Mount Salem police are that about 6:00 a.m. on Saturday,  August 3, a team of officers carried out an operation at a section of Rosemount community.

During the operation, a house occupied by the common-law couple was searched and a  9 mm semi-automatic pistol seized.

Both accused were taken into custody and were subsequently charged.  They are booked to appear in the Western Regional Gun Court on Wednesday,  August 15.
