Common-law Couple Caught with Illegal Firearms in Westmoreland

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: A 24-year-old man and his common-law wife were both arrested in connection with the seizure of an M-16 assault rifle and a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, at their home in Chi-Chester district last Thursday.
Reports by the police are that a team of officers attached to the Morgans Bridge Police station carried out an operation at a premises in Chi-Chester district, which is located on the border of Hanover and Westmoreland.

During the operation, a house which is occupied by the common-law couple was searched and the M-16 assault rifle along with 10 live rounds and a Smith and Wesson, 9 mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with two live rounds were seized.
Both accused were taken into custody.
