Jamaica News: A St. James Parish Judge will decide at a committal hearing whether Rodway Murray who allegedly murdered the boyfriend of his girlfriend’s sister will face trial.
Murray, 24, of Wakefield, Trelawny, appeared before presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small on Wednesday, April 24. A committal hearing date was set for May 28 and Murray’s bail was extended.
The court bundle is to be served on the defence attorney Martyn Thomas on or before April 26.
Murray was charged with murder in relation to the killing of 25-year-old Elvis Cunningham of Paradise Norwood in St. James.
The incident reportedly took place on July 15, 2018, after Murray and his girlfriend visited the home of his girlfriend’s sister. Whilst there, an argument developed between his girlfriend and Cunningham, during which Cunningham attacked his girlfriend with a knife.
Murray allegedly intervened to defend his girlfriend, and according to him, Cunningham fell on the knife.
He handed over himself to the police that same day.
