Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay. Coconut Vendor Shot – A popular coconut was shot and injured by a lone gunman in Montego Bay, St James on Thursday morning February 28.
The name of the victim is being withheld by the police.
Reports by the Freeport police are that shortly after 7:00 a.m., on Thursday the coconut vendor was at his stall which is located along the Orange main road, in the vicinity of Westgate in Montego Bay, when a man walked up to him and ordered a cigarette.
The vendor was in the process of attending to the would-be customer when the man reached for a handgun and opened fire hitting him multiple times to his upper body.
The gunman then escaped on a waiting motorcycle.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival, the wounded man was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he was treated and admitted in serious but stable condition.
