Jamaica News, St Catherine: The St Jago High School in Spanish Town, St Catherine, has suspended classes for Wednesday, May 8, due to a fire which damaged sections of the school building on Tuesday evening.

The school’s administration says only students sitting the CAPE and CSES examination papers should attend school today.

Reports are that shortly after 1:35 p.m., students saw fire coming from a section of the school and raised an alarm.

The fire department was summoned and upon their arrival, the firemen saw a section of the canteen roof being engulfed into flames.

The firemen worked swiftly to put out the blaze, hindering it from spreading to other areas of the institution.

None of the students were hurt, but following the fire one student suffered from a panic attack, and he was treated by a medical team on the compound.
