The Spaulding police in the parish of Clarendon, have indicated that a man who lost his life in a fire, which completely destroyed a house in Bloomwell district, Clarendon on Wednesday, February 13, is believed to have set the house and fire, taking his own life.
The investigators also stated that the deceased, 21-year-old, Cilvinos Hannan otherwise called ” Eric” of the same address, was a known mental patient who had a violent behavior.
Reports reaching our news team are that about 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, Hannan attacked one of his neighbors and ran to another section of Bloomwell district, after being chased.
Hannan then went to a house occupied by a female and two children and reportedly attacked them. The woman and her children fled the house and managed to escape unhurt.
Hannan then locked himself inside the house, and a report was made to the police.
Minutes later residents living in the community raised an alarm after they saw fire coming from a section of the woman’s house.
The fire department and police were summoned, but on the arrival of the firemen, the house was already engulfed into flames, so the firemen could only manage to carry out cooling down operations.
After the fire died down, a search was carried out and the burnt remains of Hannan found beneath the ruins.
