Clarendon Police Say Investigation have Started into Illegal Firearm Found at Auto Body Man’s Murder Scene

Jamaica Crime News, Clarendon: The May Pen police in the parish of Clarendon, have reported that investigations surrounding the shooting death of an auto body repairman, and the shooting and wounding of another man in the parish, on Monday, April 1, have now taken a dramatic turn, following the discovery of an illegal firearm at the murder scene.

One Investigator stated that following the incident, a search of the area by the police resulted in the discovery of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and several rounds of ammunition.

The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old Paul Dawkins, otherwise called “Stamma” of Sewell Crescent, in May Pen. The name of the wounded victim is being withheld by the police.

Reports by the police are that about 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Dawkins and the other victim were standing inside his yard when they were approached by a group of armed men.

The gunmen opened fire hitting both men, before making their escape in the area. The police were summoned and upon their arrival, both men were discovered suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were rushed to hospital, where Dawkins was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in serious condition.

Following a processing of the scene, the illegal weapon was found inside the yard.
