The Ocho Rios police have confirmed that a second victim who was a passenger in the motor vehicle which claimed the life of a popular St. Mary disc jockey and music promoter on Sunday, April 14, along the Ocho Rios Bypass, in St. Ann, has died at hospital.
The latest victim has been identified as, 28-year-old Christopher Lake of Boscobel, also in St. Mary.
Reports by the Ocho Rios police are that shortly after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, the deceased disc jockey, 39-year-old Sekuo Phipps of St. Mary Country Club and Lake were travelling in a Honda Civic motor car, towards the Ocho Rios town centre.
On reaching a section of the Ocho Rios bypass, Phipps reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the road and crashed into a tree.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival, Phipps and Lake were both transported to the hospital, where Phipps was pronounced dead and Lake admitted in serious condition.
Lake succumbs to his injuries about 9:00 a.m., later on, Sunday morning.
Phipps is a well-known disc jockey and music promoter who operated out of St. Mary and St. Ann. He was also booked to appear on an event in Ocho Rios this Sunday, but news of his death resulted in the cancellation of the event.
