Chicago Woman Charged For Posting Snapchat Video Of Romantic Rival’s Rape
Illinois, United States of America (Daily News)- Chicago Woman Charged For Posting Snapchat Video: Police arrested a Chicago woman accused of orchestrating the rape of her romantic rival, and then posting the assault to Snapchat.
Authorities charged Beth Rae Harris, 36, with non-consensual dissemination of sexual images for the alleged attack, NBC Chicago reported. A Cook County judge on Thursday ordered she be held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
Prosecutors said Harris and the 23-year-old victim got into a fight over a man they met at party the night of Aug. 24. The pair however, seemingly settled the spat and left together to go to a club, then a hotel party, where the victim drank heavily, according to the news station.
They eventually returned to Harris’ apartment off North Artesian Avenue, where the victim passed out. That’s when Harris allegedly encouraged at least one man — possibly more — to rape the woman, according to officials.
The victim said she awoke the next morning sore and naked. When she went home, she discovered videos that showed her being raped had been shared to her Snapchat, NBC Chicago.
Others had already seen the videos by the time she found them, but the 23-year-old was able to identified Harris as the person behind the camera. One of her Snapchat followers also identified Harris, who additionally recorded video of herself calling the victim names, the Chicago-Sun Times reported.
No one else has been charged and the investigation into the assault is ongoing.
