Caretaker Apprehended in connection with Pastor’s Death

Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: A man has been held in connection with the murder of  Pastor James Johnson,  which occurred last month’ September 20.

The accused is so far identified as the caretaker of Church Of God of Prophecy on Old Harbour Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

According to Police reports, Pastor Johnson was busy lecturing a class when he was ambushed by a lone gunman who shot him multiples times.

In a briefing yesterday, Acting head of the Major Investigation Division Superintendent Paul Thomas confirmed that the suspect was found hiding in a house ceiling, in Spanish Town on Saturday Morning at 11:00 .am.

Superintendent Thomas further stated that they were following certain leads, which resulted in the caretaker being taken into custody. He also added that they have been trying to speak with him for the past two weeks, however, he has made appointments and not turn up.

Pastor James Johnson was a past student of the Garvey Maceo High School and hailed from Red Hills Community in Clarendon. He was a public relations officer of the Church of God of Prophecy, and a prominent Political Activist.
