Jamaica Crime News, St Ann: Our news team has learnt that a St Ann man who reportedly held a woman at gunpoint, abducted her and stole a motor vehicle on Thursday night, May 31, was shot and killed after he reportedly challenged members of a police patrol in a shootout on Friday evening, June 1.

The deceased has been identified as, Jason Pinnock, laborer of Edge Hill District in St Ann’s Bay.

The lawmen stated that a .44 magnum pistol loaded with three live rounds were taken from the dead gunman.

Reports by the police are that shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Pinnock reportedly held up the female at gunpoint in Lime Hall District and abducted her.  He later released her unharmed but stole her Black Toyota Wish motor vehicle.

On Friday afternoon approximately 4:30 p.m., the police received information that the stolen vehicle was spotted in the Steer Town area.  The lawmen then staged a roadblock along a section of the Roaring River main road where they intercepted the vehicle.

They further stated that they ordered the driver to stop, but instead of complying he pulled a handgun and opened fire on the police.

The police took evasive action and returned the fire, during what time the accused was shot.  The illegal firearm was seized and the wounded man was transported to the St Ann’s Bay hospital where he was pronounced dead.
