Jamaica Crime News: Capleton Freed – Popular Jamaica dancehall artist Capleton was freed of rape charges when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, on Wednesday, March 27.
Capleton was acquitted of charges during committal proceedings, which was held at the courtroom.
The 51-year-old, reggae artist whose real name is Clifton Bailey, of a Kingston 10 address, was arrested and charged with rape., on Friday, May 12th, 2018, and he immediately hired the services of top plight attorney at law, Christopher Townsend.
Capleton is accused of sexually assaulting a female hairdresser about 11:30 am on April 28th, after he hired her to come to his hotel room in New Kingston to groom his hair.
It is further reported that, while in the process of grooming the entertainer’s hair, he allegedly turned on the hairdresser and forcefully held her down, and allegedly raped her.
The matter was reported to the police, who in turn brought in a team from CISOCA, and following an investigation, the popular dancehall artist was taken into custody, and later charged.
