Businessman Charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition in Port Antonio

Jamaica Crime News, Portland: The Port Antonio Police in Portland say they have now charged a businessman, who was held in possession of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition, during a spot check along a section of the St Margaret’s Bay main road on Sunday, June 24, 2018.

The police have still not yet released the identity of the businessman who they say was charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition on Tuesday.

Reports by the police are that on Sunday afternoon, a team of officers carried out an intelligence-led operation along a section of the St Margaret’s roadway.

During the operation, a Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV driven by the businessman was stopped and searched.  During a search of the vehicle, a Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol loaded with eleven live 9mm rounds was seized.
