Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: A 35-year-old man who challenged members of the security forces in a shootout, was fatally shot by members of a police patrol along a section of Seivwright Close, Kingston 11 on Thursday, August 2.
The alleged gunman has since been identified as, Omar Mahoney, otherwise called “Breezie” of no fixed address.
A Browning 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with seven live rounds was taken from him.
Reports by the Admiral Town Police are that about 5:20 a.m., a team of officers carried out an operation at a premises located in Seivwright Close.
During the operation, they came upon a group of men who opened fire on the police.
Decomposed Body Found in Kingston
The fire was returned and one man who was later identified as Mahoney was shot and killed, and the illegal weapon taken from him.
The accused was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. In the meanwhile, a team from the Independent Commission of Investigation INDECOM and the Inspectorate of Constabulary are now carrying out investigation surrounding this latest fatal shooting.
