Jamaica News: The festivity of the holiday period turned into mourning for numerous Jamaican families after several persons died in road crashes across the island.
This has prompted another impassioned call from the Ministry of Transport to motorists to cut their speed. Drivers are being reminded that the speed limit is halved once the road is wet. Canute Hare of the Road Safety Unit said “All who can’t hear feel, but them must remember that over 200 feel already, so those who are alive don’t need to feel. Just hear and do the right thing. But bad choices, disobedience, indiscipline, impatience, is what is causing the problem why over 200 people have been killed needlessly on the road network. Already, look at it, this is August 6 days gone already 7 people dead.”
He also urged persons to be vigilant when buying tyres as some persons were being sold snow tyres which slide and skid more than regular tyres on Jamaican roads.
He said motorists should buy “Temperature A” tyres as these are ideal for Jamaican roads.
