Latest Jamaica News, Westmoreland: Last year when the plight of the Bakers family was highlighted in a national newspaper, Dave Brown, a Jamaican based in Canada and who is from the Grange Hill community, decided to help the four members of the family who are blind.
The Bakers are live in Crowder community near Grangehill in Westmoreland. Their ordeal started ten years ago when Vanessa Baker was the first member of the family to lose her sight. Six years after, it was Shanell, then followed by their mother Virris and Venicia. Their lives were made a little bit better on Thursday, July 25, when Dave Brown visited the family and presented them with food items and cash.
Mr. Brown also appealed to the public to come on board and help the Bakers. “We need help from all quarters for these family members, Carpenters, plumbers, masons, electricians, hardware, merchants, business people, you all must come together and try to help our sisters.”
It is now left up to their father Derrick Brown who is the main support for the family. He also has two sons who are not working and would need two motorbikes to use as a bike taxi, to assist with the family’s daily needs.
