Jamaica Sports News: Nine teams were in action on Saturday, at the Portland credit union Insport netball rally, inside the Port Antonio square.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, marketing manager of the Portland credit union, Anthony Morrison, encouraged the netballers to have fun. “We are hoping that through this programme, we’ll be able to create a bit of fun and enjoyment and that you’ll have a great time participating or being a part of this event.”
Black Rock won the first incentive on offer, when they were voted winners of the dress parade.
This seemed to have energized the players somewhat, as when they took to the court, They were able to outplay their opponents and clinch a place in the final, where they met Sky Liners.
The game turned out to be competitive and at one stage the scores were level at 5. That however was the closest Sky Liners would get, as Black Rock took control of the game thereafter and when the final whistle was blown, they emerged champions 16-12.
Black Rock were rewarded with a cash prize of $10,000.00, while beaten finalist Sky Liners took home $5,000.00.
