Latest Jamaica News, Montego Bay (McKoy’s News): Female members of the public, especially single females, are being urged to be on the lookout for a male rapist who preys on women in the vicinity of Bay West Shopping Centre in downtown. Montego Bay, in St James.
The rapist is said to be lurking in the vicinity of the busy downtown shopping area and often prey on females who he believes are fragile.
The most recent incident occurred on Wednesday night about 11:45 p.m., involving a 23-year-old woman who hails from Trelawny, and traveled to St James to visit relatives in Maroon Town.
A relative of the female who was too shaken up to speak told Mckoy’s News that she traveled to Mobay to come to Maroon Town, but her transportation reached her late so she arrived later than expected.
She had just alighted off a bus in the vicinity of KFC compound and was walking towards St James Street from Harbour Street, when she was approached by a man in the vicinity of Bay West Shopping Centre.
The man asked her if she was ok and if she was looking somewhere to stay, and she told him that she was all right.
“Mi niece nearly loose har life and get rape pon top a it, because the man still follow har from Bay West, and wen him reach near to the Ole strand theater him grab har and a try fi pull har up one staircase pon a building,”
“Shi tell mi that shi start scream out, and a three prostitute come to har rescue, and the man leggo affa har and run.”
The family said they did not bother to report the matter to the police, but want females to be on the lookout for this rapist.
One police officer told Mckoy’s News that he is unaware of that particular incident, but confirmed another incident where a 27-year-old female who hails from Spot Valley community, was raped and robbed by a man who linked up with her in the same area of Bay West.
The officer stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday, after the female was standing in the vicinity of Bay West. A man fitting the same description offered to take her to a house in Catherine Hall where she could stay for the night, but upon reaching a small track off the main road in the vicinity of the Montego Bay Trade Centre, he held a knife to her throat, raped her repeatedly and then robbed her of a bag containing personal items.
