Jamaica Sports News, Kingston: In the one-off day/night 50 over game which took place on Thursday at Sabina Park, Bangladesh was able to restrict the University of the West Indies Vice Chancellor’s XI, which included hard-hitting West Indies batsmen Chris Gayle, Rovman Powell and Andre Russell, to 227 for 9.
It was left to Yanick Otley 58 and Kavem Hodge 44, who shared a 91-run 7th wicket partnership, to rescue the Vice Chancellor’s XI from 89 for 6, after Gayle 29, Russell 11 and Powell 6, failed to deliver.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Amir Jangoo 36, was also among the runs, while Musaddek Saikat with 4 wickets for 14 runs from 10 overs was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh.
An unbeaten knock of 75 from former captain Mushfiqur Rahim 75, Litton Das 70 and Nazmul Shanto 43, enabled Bangladesh to reach 230 for 6 from 43.3 overs.
Most wickets went to Rovman Powell who finished with 2 for 32.

Bangladesh who were beaten 2-nil in the test series, will on Sunday take on the West Indies in the first of three one-day internationals in Guyana.
