Bangladesh beat West Indies in first one day international

Jamaica Sports News: Bangladesh recovered from their dismal performance in the test series, to beat the West Indies by 49 runs, in Sunday’s first one day international in Guyana.

After winning the toss, the visitors raced to 279 for 4, their highest total in the West Indies. This was due mainly to a 207 run partnership, between man of the match Tamin Iqbal, who was unbeaten on 130 and Shakib al Hassan who scored 97 from 121 balls.

Devendra Bishoo 2 for 52,was the best of the West Indies bowlers.

Good bowling from skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who finished with 4 for 37 and Mustafizur Rahman 2 for 35, restricted the West Indies to 231 for 9.

Shimon Hetmyer top scored with 52, Chris Gayle contributed 40, while Devendra Bishoo and Alizarri Joseph, chipped in with 29 each, after the West Indies was stuttering at 172 for 9.

The second of the three one day internationals, will be played on Wednesday at the providence stadium in Guyana.
