Jamaica Sports News: Bangladesh are celebrating their first away One Day International series win in nine years, after beating the West Indies by 18 runs, in the third and final game on Saturday at Warner Park in St.Kitts.
Bangladesh, on the back of Tamim Iqbal’s 103, which came from 124 balls and included seven fours and two sixes, made 301for 6 from their 50 overs.
He got support from Mahmudullah who contributed an unbeaten 67 from 49 balls. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, added a 25-ball 36 and Shakib Al Hasan made 37.
Ashley nurse 2 for 53 and Captain Jason Holder 2 for 55, took most wickets.
West Indies fell 18 runs short at 283 for 6, despite good knocks from Chris Gayle, who scored an attacking 73 from 66 balls, Rovman Powell who blasted an unbeaten 74 from 41 balls, Shai Hope 64 and Shimron Hetmyer 30.
Mashrafe Mortaza was the best of the Bangladesh bowlers taking 2 for 63 from 10 overs.
This was Bangladesh’s second ODI series win in the West Indies and their third overall against them.
Captain Mashrafe Mortaza described it as a booster ahead of their participation in the Asia Cup, scheduled to be played in Dubai from September.
