The Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) is calling for members of the organization and their children or dependents to submit applications for its Samuel E. Stewart Memorial Educational Scholarship.
According to the organization, the deadline for applications is August 16, and in order to be considered, applicants must be active members of the JCSA or their dependent and be undertaking an area of study in the field of management, accounting, economics or finance.
The organization says applicants must also have passed five CSEC subjects or attained a college student GPA (grade Point Average) of 3.5; must be Jamaican citizens; be willing to participate in an interview to facilitate the final scholarship selection. It also said funds will be paid directly to the respective educational institutions for tuition only.
“Application requirements are a completed application form. Only completed application forms will be considered; no exceptions; two letters of recommendation from department heads and/or teacher; letter of enrollment or acceptance from an accredited college or university; an official transcript; typed essay (300 words maximum) describing “How the scholarship will enable you to fulfill your career aspirations and benefit JCSA,” the organization said.
The scholarship is named after former postmaster General Samuel E. Stewart who served as president of the JCSA between 1980 to 1985.
