Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: Auditor Fatally Shot – The St Catherine police and a team of investigators attached to INDECOM, are now carrying out investigations surrounding the fatal shooting of a man, who was shot and killed by a police officer who he allegedly attacked and stabbed with a knife, in his community on Monday afternoon, March 17.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Navardo Dennis, otherwise called “Nerd” an Auditor who resided at Island Farm district and was employed to the Spanish Town Tax Office.
Reports by the police are that on Monday afternoon, the police officer was walking along a section of the roadway in the company of a female when he was attacked by Dennis, who was armed with a knife.
According to the police, Dennis used the knife to inflict multiple stab wounds to the officer’s upper body, and he was fatally shot by the policeman in self-defense.
In the meanwhile, family members of the slain Auditor refuted the police story and indicated that Dennis was killed over his own girlfriend, who was allegedly having an affair with the police officer.
McKoy’s News was informed that several hours before the incident, Dennis and his girlfriend got involved in a heated domestic dispute, and the female left the scene and came back in the company of the police officer, who was alleged to be her current lover.
One relative told our news team that Dennis walked over to the two and was in the process of pulling his girlfriend away when he was attacked by the policeman.
The concern family members further stated that Dennis and the officer got involved in a physical confrontation, and the officer pulled his firearm and shot him.
“A long time mi a tell him fi lef the woman because she don’t worth it, and fi go look other woman, because a whole heap a them out there,” one female relative stated.
