Two men are now behind bars following the seizure of a 9mm pistol and seven
rounds of ammunition after a foiled robbery attempt on the Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril,
Westmoreland on Wednesday, August 12.
Reports from the Negril Police are that about 9:20 a.m., a man was driving his motor car along the
roadway when two would-be robbers on a motorcycle, one armed with a gun, pointed the weapon
at him. The driver of the motorcar then allegedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with the
assailants on the motorcycle; both vehicles then crashed onto a nearby premises.
A report was later made to the police by the driver of the motorcar.
Moments later, one of the assailants who turned up at the station to make a report, was arrested.
During the investigation, the Police returned to the scene of the incident and the other robber was
seen lying along the roadway with the firearm and ammunition in his hand.
He was taken to hospital and placed under Police guard.
