Armed Robbers Taken into Custody by the Ocho Rios Police

Jamaica Crime News, St Ann: Four men who the Ocho Rios police say are behind an armed robbery, which was carried out in the Oracabessa area of St Mary, on Thursday, June 13, were taken into custody, and an illegal firearm taken from them.

The identities of the four accused are being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports by the Ocho Rios police are that about 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, a team of officers were carrying out vehicular spot checks, along a section of the Oracabessa main road, when they received a radio message that a robbery was in progress.

Minutes later, the policemen intercepted a Nissan Tida motor car, fitting the description of the one used in the robbery, and signaled the driver to stop.

The driver complied, and a search of the vehicle, led to the discovery of a Smith and Wesson .38-revolver, loaded with two live.38 rounds.

The men were taken into custody.
