Jamaica Sports News: Jamaica’s senior Reggae Girls are now sole leaders of the final-round Concacaf Caribbean Women’s Qualifiers on nine points, following their come from behind 4-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago on Friday night at the National Stadium.
The Jamaicans who have already secured a place among the top three teams set to advance to the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship, scheduled to take place in the United States from October 4-17, were in early trouble, when Kayla Taylor sent the Trinidadians ahead in minute number 10.
They trailed all the way through to the 70th minute, when Giselle Washington found the equalizer.
From there on the Jamaicans took control of the game and went in front courtesy of the team’s leading goal scorer Khadija Shaw in minute number 79.
Ten minutes later the Reggae Girls increased their advantage, when Shaw got her second goal of the game, to push her overall tally to 14.
Jody Brown made it 4-1, in 90 plus 2 minutes.
Jamaica will go up against Cuba on Sunday, in their final match of the five team tournament.
