Another Inmate Dead while in Police Custody in Montego Bay

Latest Jamaica News [Mckoys News] Another Inmate Dead while in Police Custody – An inmate has died after he was detained on suspicion of robbery by security forces in the ongoing State of Emergency (SOE) in the parish of St. James.

On Thursday, 18-year-old Tajay Tomlinson of Providence Heights in Montego Bay complained of not feeling well and later collapsed becoming unconscious while in the protection of the state at the Freeport Police Station. He was later taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.


The relatives of the deceased are not comfortable with the reports from the police and are demanding a thorough investigation in the matter in light of recent incidents where inmates have reportedly lost their lives under suspicious circumstances while in the custody of the police. The cause of death is not known.

INDECOM is said to be probing the matter.
