Jamaica Crime News, Manchester: Angry Mob Kills Armed Robber – A man who reportedly attempted to rob an elderly woman at gunpoint in Manchester, on Sunday morning, March 10, was held by members of an angry mob who later beat him, and chopped him to death.
The deceased has been identified as Michael Simms, labourer of Junior Gully in May Pen, Clarendon.
Reports by the police are that about 7:30 a.m., Simms reportedly went to a section of the parish known as Ginger Hill and attempted to rob an elderly woman who he held at gunpoint.
The woman screamed for help and residents in the area rushed to her assistance. The angry residents managed to overpower the armed robber, who they later beat and then chopped to death.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival, the residents handed over a shotgun and four 12-gauge cartridges to the lawmen.
The scene was processed and Simms was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
