The Independent Commission of Investigation, INDECOM, is now carrying out investigation surrounding the fatal shooting of a man in Kingston 17 on Friday night, of July 27th.
One 9mm semi-automatic pistol was recovered at the scene.
He has been identified as Andrew Fletcher, 33-year-old, unemployed of Orion Avenue also in Kingston.
Reports by the Half-way Tree Police are that shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Friday, a team of officers carried out an operation at a section of Orion Avenue.
During the operation, the lawmen say they saw Fletcher acting in a suspicious manner and when he was approached, he brandished a handgun and opened fire at them.
The lawmen took evasive action and returned the fire during what time the alleged gunman was fatally shot.
A search of the scene led to the discovery of a Taurus .38 revolver loaded with six live rounds.
