Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: An American man was arrested and charged after he tried to board an airplane with a gun and ammunition at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Monday, June 3.

He is 26-year-old Matthew Campbell,  nursing assistant of Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Campbell, who is in breach of the Aviation Act, has been charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and ammunition and attempting to carry a firearm and ammunition on a plane.

Reports are that at approximately 11:30 a.m, Campbell arrived at the airport to board a Delta flight to Atlanta, Georgia when his luggage was searched and was found to contain a .38 revolver and 12 rounds of ammunition. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

Campbell is scheduled to appear before the Half-Way-Tree Parish Court on Tuesday, June 11.
