Jamaica Crime News, St James: The Barnett Street Police in Montego Bay, St James, have now confirmed that a 40-year-old man who was doused with acid by another man at his home in Love Lane, Montego Bay, St James, during the first week of June, died at the Falmouth Hospital on Tuesday, September 4, after being close to 100 % burnt.
The victim Marvin Hooper, otherwise called “Dukie” ended up being partially deaf and blind before he died, while the accused who was set upon and chopped almost to death by angry residents, later escaped from hospital, after being admitted under police guard.
Reports are that on the afternoon of June 4, Hooper was at his home in Love Lane when the accused called him from his house, immediately as Hooper came to the gate, he was doused with a bucket of acid by the accused.
Angry residents in the community held the attacker and chopped him almost to death. The police were summoned and upon arrival, Hooper and the accused were both rushed to hospital where they were admitted.
Hooper suffered almost 100 degrees burn to his body, his condition was so grave that doctors at the hospital were forced place a mesh barrier around him, due to flies which were eating away at his naked flesh.
Upon contacting the Barnett Street and Freeport stations, we were told by two senior officers that they are aware of the incident, but they were never updated that Hooper succumbed.
One senior Detective stated that, this act is a serious criminal offence ” murder by use of illegal substance ” and they are now calling on members of the public for their assistance in apprehending the accused man known as “Blacks”
