Jamaica Crime News, Hanover: Detectives attached to the Lucea CIB Department in Lucea, Hanover, are now carrying out an investigation surrounding the shooting death of an elderly woman and a 15-year-old male student at Malcolm Heights in Lucea on Wednesday night.
The two victims have been identified as, Laurell Frame, 91-year-old Pensioner and 15-year-old Jessie Spence, who attends the Hopewell High School in Hanover and both of Malcolm Heights.
Reports by the police are that about 8:30 p.m., Mrs. Frame was at her home in Malcolm Heights when the 15-year-old student who is her neighbor came over to visit as he normally does.
The elderly woman was sitting at the inside door to a room of the board dwelling house, while the teenage boy was sitting underneath an almond tree in the yard. Minutes later, two armed men travelling on foot walked into the yard.
The gunmen walked up to Jessie and opened fire hitting him multiple times. They then walked into the verandah and also shot the elderly woman multiple times to her upper body.
Other family members who were at the house ran for cover and managed to escape. The gunmen then made their escape in the area on foot.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, Mrs. Frame and Jessie were discovered lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds. They were transported to the Noel Holmes hospital in Lucea where they were pronounced dead.
Investigators stated that they believed this latest double murder stemmed from a recent flare-up between men from adjoining communities. Also, armed gang members went to the said community on Tuesday night where they fired over three dozen rounds of ammunition.
No one was injured during that shooting incident.
In the meanwhile, Easton Edwards, Councillor for the Lucea Division visited the distraught family members of both victims and offered counselling.
He stated that this is a very sad moment for Lucea and to think the gunmen can be so heartless to turn their weapons on an elderly woman and a teenage boy is beyond means.
