An 81 -year-old, a male who hails from Mavis Bank, in St Andrew, but resides in the United States of America, lost his life in a freak accident which occurred on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25th, along a section of the Content Gap main road in the community.
The deceased has been identified as Winston Walker, a retiree of Content Gap, but resides in Bronx, New York.
Reports by the Mavis Bank police are that about 6:30 pm, Walker was driving a Suzuki Vitara jeep along a section of the Content Gap main road when he pulled to banking to allow a larger vehicle to pass.
While waiting for the other vehicle to pass by, the roadway collapsed, and Walker’s vehicle dropped over a precipice, hundreds of feet below.
Walker sustained head and body injuries, and he was assisted by residents and other motorists, who pulled him from the wreckage.
The wounded man was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
