80-year-old Pensioner Mowed Down by Hit and Run Driver in Westmoreland

Jamaica News, Westmoreland: 80-year-old Uriah Williams,  pensioner of Burnt Savannah district in Westmoreland,  died from injuries he received during a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident which occurred along the roadway in Frome, on Saturday.

Reports by the Frome police are that about 12:15 a.m., Williams was walking along a section of the Greenfield main road,  when he was mowed down by a motor vehicle.

The driver of the motor car did not stop.  The Frome police were alerted and upon arrival, the wounded pensioner was transported to the Savanna-la-mar hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police say they are now asking members of the public for their assistance to get the identity, or to locate the hit and run driver.
