Jamaica Crime News, St James: Since the start of the year 2018, a total of 80 persons have been murdered throughout the parish of St James.
This figure is way below that recorded in the previous year, with a total of over 300 murders been recorded in that period.
The year 2017 ended with over 335 persons being murdered and this total went down as one of the highest murder count recorded by any parish in Jamaica.
Since the State of Public Emergency in February of 2018, the parish of St James has witnessed a dramatic reduction in murders, but domestic dispute seems to be on the rise.
The joint forces have managed to put a lid on guns and gunmen, but domestic disputes are behind a large number of these murders that have been recorded, since the start of the year.
One investigator at the Freeport Station informed our news team that, comparing to the 300 persons murdered at this same period last year, the murder rate is now way down.
He further told our news team that, the aim of the Area One police is to ensure that the murder figure is kept below three figures.
