Jamaica Crime News, St James: The St James police say they have now seized 70 illegal firearms since the start of 2018.
One of the latest seizures took place Sunday in the community of Bogue Hill in Montego Bay, St James.
One man was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.
The name of the accused is being withheld pending further investigations.
Reports by the Freeport police are that about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, a team of officers acted upon information received and went to a section of Bogue Hill.
On reaching the community, the lawmen saw the 25-year-old accused standing at a section of the community known as Ball Ground.
A search was carried out of his person and the police discovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, loaded with three live rounds in his pocket.
The accused man was taken into custody and is presently awaiting an identification parade.
The police say this latest seizure is a part of their “Get the Guns Campaign“, and they are now calling on citizens to call the police and turn over these illegal firearms.
