Jamaica Crime News: Five of the seven of the people charged in connection with a $400 million fraud at the Manchester Municipal Corporation have been convicted.
The guilty verdict came this afternoon in the Manchester Parish Court.
The presiding judge AnnMarie Grainger delivered the guilty verdict in the case that included fraud and money laundering.
The court session during which the judge delivered the verdict was streamed live and lasted for more than four hours.
Sanjay Elliott the former Superintendent of Roads and Works Supervisor, considered the mastermind in the fraud, and four others were convicted following months of trial last year. The others are Dwayne Sibbles, David Harris, Kendale Roberts and Eliott’s wife, Tasha Gaye.
They are to be sentenced July 27 and remain on bail with various conditions until then.
