400 Pounds of Ganja Seized in St Elizabeth

Jamaica Crime News, St Elizabeth: The Narcotics Police in St Elizabeth are now carrying out a search of the parish for two men who reportedly ran from a vehicle during the seizure of 400 pounds of compressed ganja on Friday, July 13.
Reports by the police are that, shortly after 7:45 p.m., a team of Detectives attached to the Narcotics Division, were carrying out an anti-narcotics operation at a section of the Barbary Hall Main Road in the parish.

The lawmen signaled the driver of a Toyota Corolla motor car to stop. Immediately as the vehicle came to a halt, three men jumped out and escaped in nearby bushes.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 7 knitted bags which contained compressed ganja weighing approximately 400 pounds. The drugs have an estimated street value of over 1.6 million dollars.
